I am delighted to be given the opportunity to contribute to the Yarnscombe website as your District Councillor.
Having lived in the rural parish of Yarnscombe all my life, I understand fully the importance of having the opportunity to receive information and to access services that residents of many of our more urban areas of the district take for granted.
I am pleased to confirm that, since taking office as your District Councillor in 2003, your views as residents of Yarnscombe have been heard loudly and clearly on many occasions. Over this period of time I have received 119 contacts by telephone or e-mail and 71 letters from residents of the parish, covering a wide range of issues from planning to youth services.
Within Torridge District Council we have 36 members who represent various areas. I represent not only Yarnscombe but also St. Giles and High Bickington, the area called the Two Rivers Ward. On issues surrounding bus services and our highways, I am pleased to be able to work in partnership with our County Councillor, Andy Boyd, to get a positive outcome for the public we represent.
As some of you may well know, I also have the privilege to be the Chief Executive of Rural Stress South West. This link to our website may be of some interest – www.rs-sw.co.uk.
Finally, I have been very pleased and proud to be your District Councillor over the last term in office and I continue to enjoy the role. If you feel that I may be able to advise or assist you on any relevant issues then please contact me in any of the following ways:
